Organize your Life

What happens when you contact a professional organizer?

When S.O.S. receives  a call from a potential client, arrangements are made for a one hour consultation.   This provides the opportunity to see exactly what the situation is and what problem areas are bothering the client the most.   The client and organizer then sit down to discuss
what the vision or goals are for the client.   We work together to prioritize what has to be done in order to tackle the client's biggest challenge first.

Will you make me throw away all my "stuff"?

No, I won't. Many people think that when an organizer comes into their home or office, that they will have to "throw out" everything and start over. Stevie Organizing Services does not do that. The goal is always to help you decide what you want to keep and then offer you the most creative solutions for storing items or filing papers so that you can quickly access what you need when you need it.

How long will it take to get me organized?

This is a difficult question to answer because every situation and person is different.   Trying to estimate the exact time a project will take is complicated.  Many times it depends on how quickly the client can make decisions as to what will stay and what will go.  What you always have to keep in mind is that this situation did not happen overnight and it will not go away that quickly either.  Things have been accumulating because you haven't been making the decisions you should have about the mail, the clothes, or other clutter that has piled up.  Changing the situation will take some time.   The goal is to always get you organized as efficiently and quickly as possible with a system that
works for you but is still flexible and easy to maintain.

How can an organizer help long term?

S.O.S. is always available to set up a maintenance schedule suited to you.  Whatever interval is set up ( once a week, every other week, once a month, etc.) helps to keep you on track to achieving your
long term goals.

Does the professional organizer do the work or does he/she tell me how to do it?

Professional organizers work both ways.  When working with a filing system and all the paperwork we have to contend with each day, it is essential that the client be there all along the way.   However, when working with the "stuff" in people's lives, the organizer can do a general sort of the items and help to categorize them so the client can come into the situation and make decisions much more quickly.   S.O.S. is very willing and always interested in teaching new systems and organizing techniques to the client.   When leaving a job, S.O.S. always makes a point of labeling everything so the client knows exactly where everything is.

I am a very private person. Will my sessions with a professional organizer be confidential?

Stevie Organizing Services will keep strictly confidential all client information, both business and personal.  S.O.S. will use proprietary client information only with the client's permission.  S.O.S. will not use any client information to benefit myself or my firm, or reveal this information to others.

I've always been disorganized. Is there really hope for me?

Everyone seems to be competing for the "Messiest Person Award."  I've seen everything from turtles in the living room, possums in the garage to little pathways in the home.  There is nothing that will surprise me.   I welcome the challenge.  I see an opportunity to meet the goal in my business which is to help people by eliminating the clutter and disorganization that causes so much stress in their lives.

Can you afford to be organized? Can you afford not to be?

The average person on an average day spends from 30 minutes to 2 hours looking for things!  Do you currently have your possessions stored in an off site storage unit?  How much are you spending each month for that?     People worry about what getting organized will cost.  But have you ever added up the amount of time you waste looking for things. Being organized not only saves you time and money but can also give you peace of mind.  It's hard to put a price on that.

Is there a one-size fits-all organizing solution for everyone?

NO!  Every person and business is unique.  Each person has their own definition of clutter.  Dealing with the clutter in your life is a very emotional and psychological issue.   Each situation is brand new,
however, the process of getting organized is similar regardless of what area is being worked on.   The ultimate solution must be customized to you.

What about your house and your stuff?

People often wonder what my own home looks like.  Contrary to popular belief, I do not live in a concrete bunker with a single light bulb.   I live in an ordinary home with stuff in it.  However, I have carefully chosen what stuff I want to take care of and have the items in my life that I love, want and use.    Being an expert in simplicity follows me through my day and my life.    Having a tranquil environment in my home allows me to function effectively and efficiently.
